CHRIS ADAMS Manitoba, went home with this tall and heavy buck. After stalking up on this buck to within 50 yards we had to back out when his rifle malfunctioned. With another rifle in hand, we were lucky enough to find the buck again. After a long stalk and a long wait for the buck to stand, success! A great way to end the season!
As always, we want to express our thanks to everyone who joined us and made 2015 another memorable year for us.
Special thanks for helping us make it all happen to:

Season 2014
RUSSELL FORBES of Kitchener, ON, came back to Alberta in September to hunt for trophy mountain mule deer on horseback, ahead of his antelope hunt. He shot this big heavy buck in a high country basin after riding up the mountain from camp as the fog began to roll in. The buck was spotted with barely enough time for a shot before he dissappeared into the mist.
JOHN DONATO, of Cambridge, ON with his wide and long pronged antelope. We had some great cover along a fenceline for our first stalk, but could not get a shot through the tall weeds. He patiently waited for the buck to make his way back to the stubble field and made a long, careful crawl to take the shot.
FINN NIELSEN of Denmark with his super heavy mule deer. Finn and his friend Kim (below) hunted the opening of mule deer season in the mountains, during the last week of September. We rode in the darkness of a blood red lunar eclipse hoping to find a bachelor group of bucks up in a high mountain basin. At first light Finn and Kim (Below) shot their deer within seconds of each other… and then watched incredulously as a cougar came out of the trees and began to drag one of the bucks away. The cougar decided to give it up when he saw us approaching. What an amazing adventure!
SHAWN WALSH, of Oyama, British Columbia and his pronghorn. This antelope has the nubby look that some bucks get from age. We spotted him the first morning and went back to look for him a couple of days later. We waited quite a while in the shade of some round bales before the buck finally got out of his bed and came towards us giving us a shot.
It is always an honour to share your experiences and successes with you! Thanks to everyone who joined us and made 2014 another memorable year for us.
Special thanks for helping us make it all happen to:
Brad Stuparyk, Darren Daniel, Dale and Penny Silbernagel, John Gordon, and Carole Frei.
We hope you can join us sometime soon.
Season 2013
JAY FURNEY of Pueblo, CO came north for a trophy Shiras moose horseback hunt at the end of October. He took this great bull with long points and tremendous fronts, the first morning of his hunt. After a fresh snowfall, the conditions were perfect. This moose was a straggler in a herd of bulls that were heading into the timber and Jay had a very small window to make the shot. Well done Jay!
STACEY YOUNG of Pueblo, CO accompanied Jay on his moose hunt. After helping pack out her sweetheart’s moose it was her turn. Not to be outdone, she shot this heavy antlered whitetail two days later. After some serious tracking she was rewarded with her “trick or treat” buck on Halloween. We all agreed this buck was definitely a “treat”.
PATRICK GENTIL of France, came back to Alberta in November and harvested this terrific muley on the second morning of his hunt. The buck was spotted in some sand hills and it took a cautious and heart pounding stalk to sneak up on him. Patrick was ready when this high and heavy buck jumped up from his bed at 15 yards.
(See Patrick’s cougar taken earlier in the year at the top of the page.)
FRIEDHELM SCHMIDER of Roemerberg, Germany took this beautiful muley on the last day of the season. He made a great shot as the buck appeared on the edge of a deep coulee. You can guess what happened. With some ingenuity and effort we were able to retrieve the deer before it was too dark. A great way to end a fantastic season!

Season 2009
TREVOR HARRIS of Australia, came over to Alberta in October looking for his first antelope. He took this high and heavy pronghorn late on the first day. We have to thank Trevor for all his help carving and caping for a full mount. Word of advice though, he’s a retired butcher, don’t ever get into a knife fight with this guy!
We took advantage of the beautiful fall weather and got our dogs out in the field for a couple days for a little upland bird hunting. We were pleased to shoot a few hungarian partridge and pheasants over our pointers.
Our friend Bill has hunted with us several times over the years and we enjoyed having him and his Pointing Griffon, Ralia back!
GARY ROBBINS of Sylmar, CA, returned for his second mule deer hunt with us. He took this beautiful muley buck on the first day of his hunt. The “corkscrew” drop tine off the right main beam, gives this big buck some added character.
This buck will share Gary’s trophy room with the great muley he got with us in 2006.
MARK SMITH of Arizona, was more than just lucky to connect on this beautiful prairie whitetail the first morning of his hunt. He made a great spot in finding this deer and an excellent shot to take him. Check out the brow tines, matching stickers and mass.
Mark was using a .30-06? with 165 grain? Barnes X Triple Shock bullets.
DENNIS WOODRUFF, currently of the high seas, (Bon Voyage Dennis!) took this beautiful buck on his first day hunting the prairies with his friend Gabriel. We managed to intercept this buck just as we had planned and Dennis was ready when he appeared, with a perfect shot!
TRACY BURTON with her “dagger buck.” Sometimes guides get a day off to do some hunting of their own. This heavy old mountain muley is a unique trophy and will always be a reminder of a special day in the field with friends
DONALD SHRUM of Nevada, took this heavy, old mule deer on a sunny November day. This 4 x 5 had super mass along with double and triple brow tines. We spent all day after this big buck and made what was likely the most difficult stalk of the season. Making our best guess as to his hidden location, we patiently belly crawled down a fenceline within yards of him, as it was our only chance to get a shot!
Thanks to everyone who joined us and made 2009 another memorable year for us. We are honored to share your experiences and successes with you! Besides that we had a lot of fun!
A few words of appreciation are in order to all those, whose contributions helped make everyone’s success possible.

This buck will share Ubaldo’s trophy room with the great muley (203 B&C) he got with us in 2005.
He used a .280 with 140 grain Barnes X Triple Shock bullets.
Here’s a video clip of Ubaldo hunting his trophy mule deer.
Ubaldo’s dream of a giant Alberta whitetail became a reality when he took this beautiful buck on the last day of his hunt. The “upswept” tine off the right main beam, really gives this big buck some added character.
He used a .30-06 with 165 grain Barnes X Triple Shock bullets.
Ubaldo is a well known Outfitter in Sonora, Mexico and a good friend.
JOSE RODRIGUEZ of Monterey, Mexico, connected on this beautiful prairie muley the first day of his hunt.

BILL WILSON of Missoula, MT, has hunted with us several times in the past. This year our longtime friend took a nice 45″ Shiras bull moose on the second day of his hunt. Then the work started…there was no time for naps in the sun on this day!
He was using a Martini & Hagn made custom single shot rifle chambered in .375 Dakota with a 270 grain Barnes X Triple Shock bullet.
Tracy used her time off for a day of moose hunting before October was through. It proved to be a very productive day indeed as she connected on this great bull. As always, she was using her .257 Roberts with a 100 grain Barnes X bullet.
MIKE FLASHMAN of Bellevue, ID took this big, heavy-based old buck late on the first day of his hunt. Outfitters don’t always get as many chances to hunt as they would like. This year Gordon was happy to take this beautiful blonde bear on the last day of the spring season with a 140 grain Barnes X bullet from his .280 Remington. JOHN KERRIDGE of Pahiatua, New Zealand, took this Shiras bull moose on the second day of his hunt. John was also lucky enough to put his tag on this nice mountain mule deer buck a couple of days later. He took both animals using a .280 Remington with 140 grain Barnes X bullets. IM and SUSAN FALLON of Barksville, TX, joined us in October. We connected at the Safari Club International Convention a couple years ago and made plans to hunt together. It’s twice the fun when we guide a husband and wife and this hunt was no exception! We started out on the prairies getting an antelope for Tim in the first few days. The girls hunted long and hard before Susan connected on this heavy horned buck. This year Gordon was exceptionally lucky, in addition to the nice bear taken in the spring, he also took this magnificent non-typical muley. With 10 points per side this is truly a dream buck for him. As always, he was using his .280 Remington with a 140 grain Barnes X bullet. Thanks to everyone who joined us in 2004 and made the year such a memorable one for us. We truly enjoyed sharing your success with you! A few words of appreciation are in order to all those, whose contributions helped make everything possible. Special Thanks to:Season 2004

MIKE CIAVARDONE and MIKE PITSIKOULIS made the trip up from Lakeland, FL, to join us on a Pronghorn Antelope/Mule Deer combination hunt during the first week of October. Mike C was lucky enough to take the best Antelope of the week with this beautiful 16″ buck. Mike also took a 4 point muley buck on the sixth and final day of his hunt.
Also joining us on the first antelope hunt of the year was GREG MICHALKO of Buffalo, MN, who purchased his hunt at the fund raising auction during the Safari Club International Convention in January, 2001.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to Greg for his ongoing support of SCI and Double Diamond Outfitters.
Our second Pronghorn Antelope hunt of the year took place in late October. An early snow turned the prairies white, and made it difficult to avoid the cactus while making a stalk!
JEFF CORIGLIANO of Seattle, WA, has hunted with us a number of times, becoming a good friend along the way. On previous hunts he has taken moose, deer and antelope. This time he opted for a prairie mule deer hunt. It was a great pleasure to hunt with Jeff again and share in his success. Jeff scored on this high and heavy mule deer on the first morning of our prairie deer season.
Once again, DON SELBY of Orem, UT, joined us in Mid November. This time he came seeking a fine prairie muley which he took on the second day of his hunt.
Don is a good friend who will be joining us when we head to Sonora, Mexico in January. We will be hunting Desert Mule Deer and Coues Deer with Ubaldo Lopez of El Rodeo Hunting Lodge.
Sometimes outfitters can fit in a day of hunting for themselves. This prairie whitetail was taken the same frosty, foggy day as Troy’s muley above, with a 140 grain Barnes X bullet from a .280 Remington.
BILL WILSON, who started out the year with his New Year’s Day cougar (see the top of the page), returned to Alberta in November to try his hand at a mountain deer combo hunt for the last 5 days of the month. Day four was one of those spectacular November days that only a deer hunter can fully appreciate, producing this magnificent mountain muley.
This was one of two great mule deer bucks we saw that day.
The next day was the final day of the season. Bill made a great shot, harvesting this ridge top whitetail buck at just over 300 yards. Bill is now a Barnes X convert, having taken each of these bucks with a 140 grain “X” bullet from his .280 Remington.
Thanks to everyone who joined us in 2001 and made the year another memorable one for us. Congratulations to those whose success we were lucky enough to share.
A few words of appreciation are in order to all those, whose contributions helped make everything possible.
